NBA star opens an all organic restaurant at Walmart of Orlando, Florida!

(Natural News) Walmart might be one of the last places that many people would expect to find wholesome organic food. But in certain locations, the standard “Welcome to Walmart” greeting can now be altered a bit to introduce guests to a healthy eating experience. That’s because Ray Allen, star NBA player for the Miami Heat, and his wife, Shannon, have founded Grown, the healthy fast food restaurant that is opening a location in the Orlando, Florida Walmart Supercenter.

Allen deserves kudos for promoting the same food that helps him excel on the basketball court. As discussed by The Health Ranger recently, other star athletes like Tom Brady fuel their high performance by following healthy diets consisting of bountiful organic food such as vegetables, superfoods, and healthy protein.

It might come as a surprise to many people when they discover that Walmart is actually the second-biggest seller of organic food in the United States. So it is already a place people go to pick up healthy food. What’s unique is that in addition to buying this type of food that they take home and prepare in their kitchens, shoppers can purchase ready-made food at Grown in the same way they would buy unhealthy fast food. Also, because Walmart is such a high-volume seller of food, they have the power to push down prices of organic, healthy food. This dramatically changes the food-buying climate for consumers and makes healthy eating more affordable. This is especially significant, given that many people say they would like to eat healthier and buy more organic food, but the high prices prevent them from doing so. Genetically Modified animal feed containing undigestable protein has been found in organs of pigs which, of course, when consumed, will end up in your gut.

This is a problem for human health. The result is unknown in specifics, but what is known is that no nutritional benefit can be derived from food that is undigested. It is also known that an accumulation of undigested matter in the gut results in weight gain and most often aggravating allergies and possibly even colon cancer.

Just Say NO to GMO

We must stand against all Genetically Modified Organisms. We must stand against Monsanto, Bayer and all others involved. We must refuse to buy their products and completely remove them from our food consumption, including restaurants that serve GM food. Buy organic, locally grown farm fresh produce and take opportunity to question farming methods to assure that they are not GMO.  These pictures of lab animals illustrate how studies have shown that when fed GMO food, they develop tumors. Similar results have been experienced in other livestock grown here and abroad.

There are many reasons GMO's are hazardous to your health. Here are some of them...

Genetically modified crops can contaminate non GM crops and result in a farmer, who is trying to grow clean fields of non GMO corn, wheat or soybeans, being sued for not buying from Monsanto or other GM seed producers.  See the article and note the risk of global contamination.

Why are millions of U.S. citizens eating GMOs?  Simply put, back in the 1990s, the U. S. government  "asked" the Food and Drug Administration to promote the use of biotechnology – including the deployment of GM seeds. So, naturally, the FDA created a new policy position – within the FDA – and chose Michael Taylor to lead the way. Who is Michael Taylor? Michael Taylor was the former attorney for Monsanto – one of the largest biotech companies in the world and a major producer of GM seeds. Gee, I wonder, could this be a conflict of interest? So often – we hear GMO proponents say that there is ‘no difference’ between conventional and GM seeds (or food). Yet, FDA scientists consistently warned about the danger (and differences) associated with the use of GM food. Folks, we are being lied to, every day by the biotech industry, and good science is being ignored (sometimes ridiculed) by the very health agencies or major food producers responsible for creating our food supply.  (article by Jonathan Landsman)

It should be added that there are few alternatives. Products are not labeled to let you know they are engineered and who knows, in that scenario, if all of them are not modified.  Again, we have no choice but to stop buying from grocery stores, raise our own food or buy organic only.

The commercialization of GE foods occurred through the unbelievably poor judgment -- if not downright corruption -- of the US Food and Drug Administration (the FDA). ...

There are many other serious concerns to weigh when considering the dangers of genetically modifying the food we eat, including the disruption and altering of digestive enzymes...
  • Animal studies show that DNA in food can travel into organs throughout the body, even into the fetus.

The only published human feeding experiment revealed that genetic material inserted into GE soy transfers into the DNA of bacteria living inside our intestines and continues to function. Even after we stop eating GE foods, we may still have the GE proteins produced continuously inside us.

As the Institute for Responsible Technology has noted, the genetic engineering process creates massive collateral damage, causing mutations in hundreds or thousands of locations throughout the plant’s DNA. Natural genes can be deleted or permanently turned on or off, and hundreds may change their behavior. Even the inserted gene can be damaged or rearranged, and may create proteins that can trigger allergies or promote disease.

The idea of having genetically engineered genes permanently living inside our guts has staggering implications:

  • If the antibiotic gene inserted into most GM crops were to transfer, it could create antibiotic-resistant diseases.

  • Bt toxins (Bacillus thuringiensis) inserted into GM food crops to kill pests are reaching the bloodstreams of 93% of women and 80% of unborn babies because of the consumption of meat, milk, and eggs from livestock fed GE corn. This could turn bacteria in our intestines into pesticide factories.

  • Animal studies show that DNA in food can travel into organs throughout the body, even into the fetus.

  • Another  reason to eat only organic food.
